What is the Political Courage Test?

Washington Congressional Election 2012 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
This matter is truly a states issue and should be left to the states and to the people. The supreme court usurped their power in Roe vs Wade.
No Do you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
Yes Do you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?
We need to pack up and leave ASAP. That simple. We do not need to leave any troops there or give any more funding or aid. We need to cut all ties and permanently too.

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget. In order to balance the budget,

Yes do you support reducing defense spending?
No do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No do you support reducing Medicaid spending?
No do you support reducing Medicare spending?
Yes Is balancing the budget a legislative priority?
We must have a balanced budget. We must cut all wasteful spending. We must cut all unconstitutional departments. We must live within our means. We need to cut all foreign aid.
Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
This is a hard one to answer. On one hand we are America and we are free to have as much money as we want so we should not limit who donates money to a candidate. However on the other hand there should be a level playing field. Maybe a cap of campaign spending for an example. I would have to hear all sides of this issue to truly form a view.
No Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
There is always the possibility of innocent people being put to death.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
No Do you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
No Do you support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
Yes Do you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
Government needs to let the free markets control the economy. They need to stop with regulations and mandates that strangle the job creators, small business who are the fuel of the economy. They supply over fifty percent of the US work force. Taxes need to be kept low so small business can use the money to grow and to hire new employees.
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
Education should be left to the states and to the people. The Education Department is unconstitutional and must go.
Yes Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
We need to seek other avenues to support our domestic oil use. We can do things and at the same time protect the environment. Government regulations keeps things from moving forward.
No Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
This is a matter that should be left to the private sector. The government should not punish companies for their gas emissions but should instead offer incentives to encourage ways to help save and protect the environment. We do need to monitor changes in the environment, however this is a global matter and that too should come into consideration.
No Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
The Second amendment was written so We The People can protect ourselves from the government in case of tyranny. We must never be without them. Nor should our right to keep them be denied. Some current gun laws are too strict. And the federal government needs to stay out of it. Again, it is a state issue and should be left to the states and to the people.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
No Should individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
This act is unconstitutional. There are many ways to help make health care affordable and this act does not address any of them. Being able to cross state lines to purchase health insurance is one way. Competition keeps the prices low for the consumer. A single payer system as in the government is the only one paying means prices are controlled and set and therefore discourages competition which in turn does not lower prices and costs. It keeps them high.
Yes Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
No Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
Yes Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
We are a land of laws and the immigration laws must be enforced. If one is here illegally, they must leave on their own and then can come back in the legal way. Children of illegal immigrants should not be given a free pass. They too must leave on their own and return the legal way. The borders must be closed and protected. I could support a guest worker program. Employers must use e-verify. No more Visa lotteries and we need to reexamine the foreign worker/student visa programs so to benefit US citizens first.
Do you support same-sex marriage?
This matter should be left to the states and to the people.
No Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
No Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon?
We are not the police of the world. We need to keep a strong national defense here and not have military bases all over the world. We need to leave the U.N. and they need to leave US soil. We need to get out of all national organizations and only worry about protecting our country here.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Social security is unconstitutional. It should slowly be phased out so those who have paid into it can still collect their benefits while younger people can take care of retirement on their own. The government has no business in our every day lives. We are responsible for ourselves from birth until death.
